Our Kids Summer Workshops offer fun, educational and affordable opportunities for kids & their families to get outside! Beginning on June 17th, we will be hosting informative & affordable Kids Summer Workshops every Thursday (new day this year). With topics ranging from pollinators, pigs, chickens, cows, root vegetables, worms, rabbits, edible roots, ducks, sheep & guinea pigs, you'll find something every week!
Our kids workshops are designed for kids, ages 3-10 with adult supervision, to be outside, interacting & playing while learning. Each workshop has two times each week for your convenience. The cost is $1 per child, no registration is needed.

The Bloomsburg Children's Museum will be on hand with experiments to learn how pollinators do their jobs. Discover the important pollinator parts of flowers in a dissection lab and investigate how pollinators help our food supply. Fun crafts, activities, and fun for all ages!

Rabbits

Come meet Molli Petro, local high school student and the Pennsylvania Rabbit Duchess. Molli has extensive experience in many forms of youth in agriculture and holds the Columbia County, PA and National Junior Miss Agriculture USA titles. Molli will share all about basic rabbit care (parents this is a good time to decide if a pet rabbit is the right choice for your family!). Participants will also learn about different breeds of rabbits, basic rabbit care and diet. Kids will be able to pet rabbits and enjoy the amazing hopping tricks of Blueberry the rabbit!.

Join us as we travel through the life cycle of the butterfly and handle live eggs, caterpillars & chrysalises. Discover how a butterfly uses its body parts to navigate through the world. Finally, create a life cycle craft that can be used to teach your friends & family about these wonderful pollinators. Don’t miss the fun…. come fly with us & learn all about these winged wonders!

Picky eaters? Get kids involved in the kitchen!! This fun workshop will introduce some innovative ways to prepare & store easy to make meals for kids!! Using seasonal ingredients & items so many families are receiving through the school backpack programs, we will learn some creative and delicious meal planning, healthy snacking & activities even younger kids can handle independently. This workshop will be led by Mary Ellen Christie, the Nutrition Education Adviser from Penn State Extension.
