 Summer Farm field trips

Outside, interactive learning workshops to engage
children (and adults too) in understanding more about farm life.


These field trips are great for day cares, summer camp groups and VBS!
Your group will receive 20 - 30 minutes of hands-on education and interaction.
​Learn about how produce grows on the farm, how to care for crops,
and amazing facts about the food we eat after harvest!​
Enjoy unlimited use of our outdoor picnic table space, including play time in our Children's Garden.
You are welcome to bring a sack lunch OR visit our deli for fresh sandwiches.
We also offer order-ahead bag lunches.  Advance orders are requested for large groups.

​​Strawberry Workshop

Best for ages 3-10
How do strawberries grow? We will follow the walking tour featuring Denise Bosworth's book, "Are They Ready Yet?" Students will learn how these delicious berries are planted, cared for and then harvested.  Interactive and fun, kids and grown ups too are sure to learn some new fun facts.  See below for available add-ons.

Best for ages 3-10
Not all popcorn that you see growing is the same. Did you know that there is popcorn, field corn and sweet corn?  Find out what is unique to each of these different
types of corn and how very differently they grow.

What is so special about that fuzzy fruit, the peach? 
We will discover in our peach workshop!  There is
a lot to learn about farm work through the seasons
when we learn how to maintain fruit trees through the winter, spring and summer!  See below for available add-ons

Soil Health &
Scavenger hunt
Available May through august

Is it true that you are what you eat?  Let's talk about soil and how important it is that we take care of it here on our farm.  Adapted to age appropriate learning, participants will learn what we do on our farm to take care of our soil.  With a visual demonstration, students will see the difference between healthy soil and not-so healthy soil.  
This workshop also includes a walk around the farm scavenger hunt where students will learn about the fruits we grow here on the farm.

COW WORKSHOP
AVAILABLE JUNE THROUGH AUGUST

Best for ages 3-12
Did you know that cows are some of the best upcyclers on the planet?  During this workshop, you will learn all about that and more! Students will learn all about beef cattle, including how they are raised on our farm, their diets
and how important they are to our environment.

Best for ALL AGES!
Get up close and personal with our bovine beauties!  
Your group be driven right into our ladies' pasture,
where they will soon be surrounded by the entire herd!  The participants will have the opportunity to feed ears
of corn to our cows.  You will learn very interesting facts about cows.  There is also an opportunity to ask questions.   Can be combined with our Cow Workshop.

pollinator workshop

Learn all about the many different types of pollinators, their very important role on farms & gardens.  We will read a book about pollinators and do a special Scavenger Hunt.  Participants will plant a seed that will attract pollinators to their home!

Groups of 15 or more - $2.00 per child

  • We will provide sweet, juicy & delicious corn on the cob for you
  • Fully cooked & ready to eat
  • $2 per student

STRAWBERRY OR PEACH FREEZER JAM *
  • Add this option to any workshop
  • $10/ per participant
  • Recommended for ages 10 and up.
  • Participants will learn how to prepare freezer jam from start to finish!
  • This class includes important food safety.
  • Students will take home two pint jars of freezer jam and the knowledge to make more on their own! 
                   * in season only

SEED PLANTING
  • $2 per participant
  • Best for late April / May
  • Participants will plant their own seed, while learning about planting seeds & how to care for their seed to grow their own plant all summer!
  • Their seeds will go home in a compostable / plantable container
  • We also provide bags & growing instructions
  • Seed types may vary
